Community Outreach
Women's Institute is an education group that has local, provincial and federal Branches, as well as associated societies in over 90 countries with 8 million members. We seek to improve the lives of women and their families by promoting personal growth.
Locally our WI Branches conduct the feminine hygiene product drive, sharing items between the Morningstar Mission and the Salvation Army, and financially to Interval House. We also contribute throughout the year of Morningstar's food bank and warm clothes and backpack programs. We give lots of books, blankets and bears for children in distress to the Napanee Hospital and fire department.
For social outreach we host euchre nights and strawberry socials and the Napanee Fair Tea. We have had guest speakers to address mental health issues, especially in agriculture, women's health issues, environmental concerns. We support entrepreneurs and advocate buying local. Other major issues are human trafficking and scams. And we remember our shut-ins with visits and small gifts.
